Santorum: This is a three-person race

Today, Rick Santorum said that the Republican presidential race is a "three person race". He believes that he is the better Republican going against President Obama rather than fellow candidates, Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich. During the interview with CNN's State of the Union, he stated that "the real conservative has yet to emerge -- and that's me". Santorum was declared the winner on of the Iowa caucuses on Saturday.
"In their opinion, and in mine, that's not a choice between a conservative and a moderate," Santorum said. "It's a choice between a moderate and an erratic conservative, someone who on a lot of the major issues has been just wrong."
Santorum, the Iowa winner, noted that South Carolina is in Gingrich's "backyard" because he is from neighboring Georgia; he also pointed out that Romney won the primary in his neighboring state, New Hampshire.

Perry's son tweets his thanks after dad's exit

Rick Perry's son, Griffin Perry (28), thanked his father's supporters via twitter because his father was done with the presidential candidate run. The tweet said
"Thank you to everyone that supported dad through this journey. We are all humbled by the opportunity. God Bless America".
In 2006, Griffin helped his father Rick join Facebook because the media has its own way getting news and ideas spread faster than any other source. Using the opportunity to tweet his appreciation, Griffin Perry defended his father and also gave out shout outs to people who cover Rick Perry's every move. Who included, Rebecca Kaplan of CBS, Arlette Saenz of ABC and Carrie Dann of NBC

Personally, I think its very sweet that he is supporting his father like this.

Gingrich calls Romney a liar

Newt Gingrich called his rival, Mitt Romney, a liar, just hours before voters in Iowa voted for the presidential nominee. During an interview with CBS, Newt Gingrich was asked specifically if he thought that Mitt Romney was a liar. There were many negative ads that were broadcasted about Newt Gingrich, which most of them were funded by Mitt Romney.
"Yes," Gingrich told Norah O'Donnell of CBS. When the question was repeated, Gingrich replied: "Well, you seem shocked by it. Yes."
Later on, Newt Gingrich had an interview with Fox News and he said that Mitt Romney "fails to tell the truth".  He feels as though as if Romney should be more honest with the people and by making Newt Gingrich look bad with all this negativity, "its a terrible way to run for office".

Romney jokes Obama is like Kim Kardashian

Mitt Romney made a reference to reality TV star Kim Kardashian about President Obama. He jokes around with it because Obama made promises to the Iowa voters and Mitt Romney compared it to Kim Kardashian's famous wedding. She made a promise "til death do us part" and filed for divorce less than three months later. He stated that :
"I've been looking at some video clips on YouTube, of President Obama, then candidate Obama, going through Iowa making promises, the gap between his promises and his performance is the largest I've seen since, well, the Kardashian wedding and the promise of 'til death do us part. "
Many promises were made and Obama had fallen short to those promises. But its really unacceptable to disrespect the president like that. But I gotta admit, that was a really good joke.

Rick Santorum is really confident that he will finish pretty strong against the other candidates in the Republican Party. Newt Gingrich weeps as he recalls his mom

Newt Gingrich broke out in tears when he was asked to talk about his mother. His mother, Kit Gingrich, died in 2003 of a bipolar disorder and she suffered from depression. Usually Newt Gingrich is a competitive person who would never let his guard down. Talking about his mother, burst out into tears, I just had to give the guy some sympathy. Even though it looks like Newt Gingrich is using his dead mother to win a primary, you have to think about it in his shoes. Losing a parent can be really tough. He stated that "I identify my mother with being happy, loving life, having a sense of joy with her friends,". If she was alive today, Newt Gingrich said that he would do everything he can as a candidate to be worthy of her. One of his daughters, was sitting in the audience, she handed him a tissue as he wiped the tears off his face.

But in a way, I think that Newt Gingrich used a sob story to try and reenact Hilary Clinton's success. Newt is a dirty politician who does anything to be successful. Newt Gingrich is just trying to show people that he can be emotional and he isn’t a cold hearted person that everyone thinks he is, but not many people is buying it and he will get criticized by the media. I think the author of the article, Susan Page, is siding with Newt Gingrich. She doesn't criticize or suspect Newt of false tears. She talked about the positive reasons as to why Newt cried.

Bob Schieffer interviewed Newt Gingrich, who has been getting a lot of harsh criticism from the media. The first topic that was discussed was Mitt Romney’s new endorsements. The endorsements that they were referring to were the ones from Iowa’s popular newspaper, The Des Moines Register. Newt Gingrich called the Des Moines Register, a liberal paper, he received an endorsement from the conservative paper, Manchester Union Leader. The next topic that was discussed was Newt Gingrich’s previous comment saying that a president should, at times “ignore” the Supreme Court. Now Newt Gingrich defended his statement with his own personal history of lawyers and using examples. He stated that the judiciary branch is the weakest of the three branches in our government according to the Federalists Papers. They started to talk about immigration policies. Newt Gingrich wants a “secure border” by 2014, English as the official language, stronger fines on hiring immigrants, and a better visa as well as citizenship programs. Newt Gingrich is more lenient on the immigrants who have been here for 25 years+, he feels as though that they should have a chance to get a residency permit.
